iPad charging with the TPS2543 cycles when in DCP-Auto mode

We are experiencing a problem with the TPS2543 for charging iPads with the TPS2543 set in CDP-auto mode (CTL3=H; CTL2=L; CTL1=L).

We have to use auto mode to ensure 2A charging is achieved. However, when the iPad approaches fully charged the iPad disconnects & reconnect. It continues to do this indefinitely with a cycle time ~5mins

    John,

    What you are using is CTL1/2/3 ILIM_SEL 0011 mode, which is Power Wake mode of TPS2543.

    Power Wake mode is a special mode, designed for a system which needs switching between main power and stand-by power. What you saw with iPad fully charged, iPad cycling with a certin time is seeing TPS2543 doing this function. This function needs to be designed with proper system design together.

    Your system clearly doesn't need this function, please change CTL2 from L to H, which is 0111 DCP/Auto mode, then you can avoid the cycling issue.
