Hi,

Im recently trying to build a 1~4S Lipo Charger, Im planning to use Bq29312 AFE, Bq24610 Charger and Gas guage IC (bq2084 - Not sure).

Data Flash Programming of Bq2084 needs EV2300 which is quite expensive.

I wanted to know if there is any cheap and easy alternate for programming Data Flash of Bq2084 or any other Gas Guage IC that doesnt needs data flash programming and can efficiently monitor Battery voltage and current.?

One possible alternative is the Thumbus2300. It's an EV2300 in a USB dongle form factor, and uses a mini-USB type AB connector rather than the traditional 4-pin header used by the EV2300 and EV2400. It's $50 rather than the $100 that the EV2300 normally asks for, but will only do SMBus (so using the I²C or HDQ interface for single-cell gauges won't be usable). However, in your case you will be fine as the bq2084 is SMBus-based.

You might have luck with online auction sites like eBay, but I personally haven't seen any EV2300 or EV2400 boxes on sale that are reasonably priced on eBay lately.
