Generating 1.25V from 2.5V Vin using TPS74201KTWR

Hi,

In my application, I am planning to generate 1.25V from a 2.5V supply using the part TPS74201KTWR. R1, R2 planned are 2.67K and 4.75K respectively. Vbias=5V. Max current requirement is 1A. The PCB has 2 layers as ground planes, and the dimension of the PCB would be around 5X5". I have attached a snapshot of the circuit.

Could you please say if this design will work fine for my application. Voltage accuracy required is about +/-36mV

Thanks,

Anoop

  • Hi Anoop,

It looks like you followed the design requirements in the datasheet; therefore, the device should operate within the datasheet specifications.  The Vout accuracy of the device is specified to be +/- 1%.  This accuracy does not include the external components.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I was especially concerned about Vbias being 5V and Vin only being 2.5V(The datasheet does say Vin can be a minimum of Vout+Vdropout, and Vbias is preferred to be >=Vout+1.62V, but just wanted to reconfirm), but it looks like it is fine, right. Thanks

    Thanks,

    Anoop
