CSD19506KCS Solder Tab?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19506KCS

I am currently planning on using 6 of the CSD19506KCS NexFETs to implement a 3 phase motor controller. I was left wondering however if the tab of these mosfets can be soldered to the board or if they must be bolted down. I was planning on using an Aluminum PCB (MCPCB) and this will affect my decision on whether to use this part. Also, if this tab is only bolt on, is there a reliable way to ensure a good connection between this tab and the pad for the drain on the board. Thank you in advance.

  • David,

For the best connection it is recommended you mount through a hole on the PCB and then bolt to a heatsink. If you want to solder the heat pad onto the PCB, then you have to bend the leads. If you clip the TO-220, you can create a makeshift D2PAK.
