Reverse battery protection with a single AAA cell for TPS61201

Any suggestions on how to protect from reverse battery insertion by the user (AAA cell, 1.0-1.5v) with minimal losses?

When the battery is low (about 1.0v) a diode has too much drop, and a series FET's Vt probably not adequately controlled at such a low voltage.

Thanks.

  • i think there may be three method. depend on your input current.

    1. schottky diode, about 0.1~0.3V voltage drop. low efficiency at high load

    2. NPN or PNP transistor,   low efficiency at light load but maybe higher at high load

    3. schottky diode and mosfet, use the output votlage to drive the mosfet. high efficiency but a little complicated.

you can apply an EVM to do the experiment. thanks
