TPS2592AL – About Thermal Shutdown function

Hi,

We would like to ask about Thermal Shutdown function.

Where is a sensing point of junction temperature(Tj) of device?

I believe that Tj is sensed at Power PAD.

Is my understanding correct?

[Datasheet page.14]

The device also has built-in thermal sensor. In the event device temperature (TJ) exceeds TSHDN ,

typically 160°C, the thermal shutdown circuitry will shut down the internal MOSFET thereby disconnecting the load from the supply.

There is little difference between Tj and Exposed Pad temperature due to theta JC. 


Otherwise, the two temps are fairly close.

I understood that built-in thermal sensor is sensing Exposed Pad.
