Availability of BQ30Z554-R1

I am working on a new design, and my purchasing department is having trouble acquiring the BQ30Z554-R1 in either tube or T&R.

Is this because the device is new to the market, or just because of low demand?  I was trying to avoid an EOL problem by choosing a newer device, but I'm not sure that this part wont give me a problem.

    Kyle,

    the bq30z554-R1 is not scheduled for EOL or NRND. There just seems to be a backlog on the device. It looks like Mouser has some devices in stock at this time. If this is a new design, then you could consider the bq40z50. It is our newer gauge that supports up to 4 cells.


    Tom
