I have an 0.1 ohm external current sense resistor in series with a FDC8886 MOSFET with 23mohms Rdson being driven by the TPS92690. The ILim is set for 1 amp of current through the FET. However, whenever the LED array is disconnected, the FET burns up, as does the series resistor, and it wipes out the TPS chip. If the array is connected, the driver works just fine limiting the current through the array. Any thoughts as to why this SOT23-6 FET is buring up? It should be only dissipating about 30 mw at 1 amp. It appears that the cycle by cycle current limit isn't working.
