Query about BQ24650EVM

Dear Sir/ Mam,

I am using BQ24650EVM of TI.
I am following it's User's Guide SLUU444A.
I have 2 little queries.
Setup:-
I have connected 12 Ohm/25W metallic resistor as load1 and 12V/7AH battery as load2.
JP1 is connected to external TS mode and TS pin is open at J2. JP4= OFF.
Queries:-
1. In Section 2.7.1 of User's Manual (page no. 7), there is written:
    V(J2(VOUT))= 0V+/- 500mV
In our case, i am getting 5V at V(J2(VOUT)). what could be the reason?
2. In section 2.7.3, it is mentioned to use the constant voltage mode and set the output voltage to 8V.
Could you please explain what should i do in order to achieve constant voltage mode?
Kindly reply.
  • 1. If you follow the instructions on the User's Guide, since the TS pin is open, the charger should be disabled and V(J2(VOUT)) should be about 0V. It is strange that you get 5V instead and it is not a standard voltage. Did you disconnect the 12V/7AH battery when doing the test?

    2. Electronic loads usually offer Constant voltage mode (CV) and Constant Current mode (CC). Please check the manual of the electronic load you are using.

    Thanks.
