    Hello,

    If you are looking at a device such as the BQ24160 it can enable a consistent I2C library that can inform that host controller what charger is connected.

    Since this is a read only register it will not influence the device operation on its own. It is useful if you are using multiple chargers in the BQ24160 family or multiple versions to given the embedded controller the device information it will need to adapt to variations within the part family or across device revisions.
