TPS62110 max. allowed VOUT when VIN is floating

my TPS62110 design is converting a 12V input voltage to a 7.5V output voltage.

For testing and programming of my board, I want to supply the 7.5V lane (VOUT) from an external power supply and keep the input voltage VIN floating.

The EN pin is connected to VIN.

Question: What is the maximum allowed externally applied voltage at VOUT without drawing excessive current and without damaging the TPS62110?

How do you have the SYNC pin connected on the TPS62110?

SYNC is connected to VIN (low noise mode, fixed frequency PWM operation).

Yes, this is very dangerous in this case as I describe in the referenced post. I would suggest either disabling the device when the voltage is applied on the output or enabling the PFM mode.

But to answer your question about the voltage you can apply, it needs to be below the recommended maximum range of Vout, which is 16V.
