AuxGen 1.6 problem, getting "can't find qualified discharge" error messages

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL114, BQWIZARD

We attempted to create an .aux file from our .csv log (created following the directions in the "Selecting chemistry" document for the bq78PL114) but keep getting error messages in the AuxGen 1.6 DOS box..."can't find qualified discharge".

The .csv log file has the record for two complete discharges (and a charge in between) with 2+ hour rests and no chattering or other problems preventing a full, smooth charge and discharge to the voltage and current set points.

The discharge current was 1.00A to 1.01A and is recorded in the .csv file as -99 to -101 mA. Since we're using the Sense 3 setup with a 1000uOhm sense resistor, this sounded correct. We tried using "1000", "-1000", "100" and "-100" for the First Discharge (mA) entry in AuxGen but all yielded the same result. AuxGen starts processing the .csv file, creating 1-1/2 lines of periods to indicate its process, and then halts. Then, in the DOS box, we then get a very large number of the error messages and then AuxGen closes and the .aux file is empty, 0 bytes.

What is AuxGen looking for in the .csv log file to see a "qualified discharge"?

  • Hey John,

did you already succeed with the .aux file generation?

I did a couple of days ago, there are some inexactnesses, but finally worked.

  • Yes I did!

With help from TI, we determined that my discharge current level dropped below the minimum level that AuxGen needs, 1.0A. Once I increased it above this, the problem went away. The new aux file definitely helps but I think we still have a couple of bqWizard settings to play with as some of the SBSData values very quickly drop to zero when we start a discharge.

Glad to hear that you were able to create an aux file too!
