TPS54160A Light loads and Inrush

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54160A, TPS54160

Hi,

I was thinking of selecting TPS54160A for the following application.Can you please comment if its suitable or any possible pitfall i may encounter?

VIN=4.5-7V

VOUT=3.3V

IOUT

For IOUT I have to face three scenarios,

1) Continuous 60mA

2)An Inrush situation where 1.5A needs to be given for 0.5ms. ( This happens when a load switch connects an LCD to this supply)

3)Continuous 250mA ( This happens when a load switch connects an LCD to this supply after the inrush)

So,

1)I was checking the datasheet and found it is mentioned that TPS54160 requires 100mA inductor ripple current for stable operation.Also the low dropout operation specifies 2.1V minimum between PH and BOOT Pin will it cause a problem here?

2)So how should i do the design like may be for 1.5A or for light load condition only?

3)If and all the device operates in pulse skipping mode how will the ripple and EMI aspects?

Thanks ,

Best Regards

Stephen
