TPS2511 current limit fault

In my test device the TPS2511 has 2 switch settings for 550mA+ and 1000mA current limiting with 82K and 47K resistors respectively. However ive been testing with solar panels and batteries (with a boost converter output at 5V) and for currents less than 1A (tested with range between 150mA and 900mA) the output short-circuit current is anything between 80mA and 150mA only.

A more stable test params were :

input :5V, 850mA

TPS2511 output: 5V, 150mA measured with a 10ohms resistor load

with a 82K current limiting resistor for 500mA+ output current.

Shouldn't it be giving out the full input current at least ? What could be wrong here ?

TPS2511 integrate Hicuup mode refer to datasheet page 14, over current protection segment.

Also, plese post some wave and would better to include VIN, VOUT and I_OUT to see what happen.

The hiccup mode, as per the datasheet "

During an overload condition, the TPS2511 maintains a constant output current and reduces the output voltage
accordingly. If the output voltage falls below 3.8 V for 16 ms, the TPS2511 turns off the output for a period of 12
seconds as shown"

As per my post:
My output voltage is still 5V but only 150mA output current.

Input voltage is 5V, 850-900mA.

Turned out two of the brand new batteries were shorted ... nothing wrong with the circuit or the ICs themselves. Usually we dont expect brand new batteries to turn out like this .. :/
