TPS54622 EOS damage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54622

Hi,

We use a DCDC chip TPS54622 failure, send your company Failure analysis is EN pin EOS failure, see attachment。

This is ourcircuit,

Our system requires the TPS54622 to start after the -5vand +5V start, so we use the circuit to determine whether -5V and +5V start.

6866.405534-1.pdfPlease help to confirm is there problem with this circuit?  is there any possible cause the EOS?

Best Regards

Gene Deng

  • From the FA report, it looks like the EN pin either sourced or sunk too much current. The enable pin is not sized to handle much current, maybe only a few micro-amperes. The first thing I would recommend is to try adding a series resistor with D1, try 10k.

Can you show a typical start-up waveform with the +5V, -5V and the TPS54622 EN pin? At steady-state the circuit will do what you describe above, but there are a couple of transition points, depending on how its sequenced, i.e. (+5V is up, -5V is not), (-5V is up, +5V is not), (C1 finishes charging) etc... that should be looked at
