I am looking for a fuel gauge and a battery charger for our Li-ion battery. We were suggested the BQ27510 and the BQ24070. After having read through the datasheets and application notes of BQ27510, I am unable to understand how to program the same and read in the SOC value from the chip without having to use a Eval module or Eval software. Are they necessary for me to determine the SOC and other parameters of the battery. If so, how will the BQ24070 learn the battery chargin and discharging rates and determine the SOC when soldered on my board?
On the other hand, I would also like to know if we could use the same eval software, if we were to determine the battery thresholds of a Li thionyl chloride battery? Is there arny fule gauge chips that you would like to suggest for this battery chemistry?
Thanks,
SA.
