BQ40Z50 and Battery Management Studio

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50

I'm having trouble loading the GUI for the BQ40z50 evm in the battery management studio. I know my EVM is compatible with the battery management studio but when I try to load up the battery management studio i get the following message. Has anyone come across this?

  • Serge,

Are you using Windows 7? If so, did you select the Run as Administrator options when running the setup program? This is required to setup the GUI to run properly. If you did all of that, then can you continue on past the warning? Does the device communicate and what other problems do you see? You may want to try reloading the firmware into the device.

  • The bq40z50 may be in sleep mode. SMB communication is off in sleep mode. Applying a charge or discharge current will wake it up.

There is text just below the list of devices that indicates the device that is connected. If SMBus communication is ok, it will show some numbers. That information could be useful to identify if a firmware update is required on the EVM.
