Dear Sir,

Need your help to suggest a suitable LED driver with following specs:-

Input voltage range : 3V to 9VDC

Output : 3.4V at 1 Amps (single WLED)

Output : 3.4V at 700mA (single WLED)

This calls for a buck-boost converter. Which is best suited device - TPS43000 ? ? ?

I also need the schematic with component values with the device that you suggest

The customer wants to use this scheme for Single LED Table lamp / Reading lamp.

The annual volumes are approx 12K in first year

The expected MP date is May 2010

I assume this is battery powered? The input range is quite wide. I would suggest putting your cells in parallel, not series. This would open up more parts if the maximum input voltage was kept below ~6V. If this is the case, the TPS63010 series of devices would be a decent fit. The feedback voltage is only 500mV, so the losses from the current sense element is reduced.

Another option is the TPS61500 configured in a SEPIC topology.
