TPS2530 : Protection circuit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2530

Dear specialist

Are there any protection circuit at output side(Vout) against external voltage ?
If Vin:0V,Vout:5V , might Vin side occur any voltage?

※In that case there are not any protection circuits , customer will put diode for Vout pin.

Best regards

  • TI USB power switch can block reverse current flow when they are in the disable state (the enable pin is de-asserted).

  • Hi Eric,

One of my customer is observing ~1.2V at Vin when device is disabled and 5V is applied at the output.

After few seconds this voltage decreases to zero.

Have you see such behaviour before? Will increasing cap on Vin help to reduce the issue?

    Is there any work around.

I am attaching waveform for your reference, yellow is Vout pin voltage and blue is Vin pin voltage.

    Thanks and regards,

    Mahendra, TI

  • Can you provide a more detailed schematic showing any other system power supplies/connections and also to which supply the FLT and EN signals are pulled up to? Under the following conditions, TPS2530 reverse leakage are very low.

In most cases, the leakage source comes through a different path than the disabled USB power switch.
