[BQ24079] Additional power path for IN to OUT

Hi,

Because customer need to have 3A output for system, BQ24079 maximum input current is only 1.5A. Thus, customer would like to add a schottky diode to enhance output current between IN and OUT pin.

Does this design okay? Any side effect or concern?

This has not been tested. My concern is that the IC will current limit at 1.5A, then try to enter supplement mode and connect BAT to OUT. OUT would be a diode drop below IN which would exceed the battery voltage and damage the battery.

Is changing to a 3A switching charger like bq24266 possible?

I have developed a Li-Ion recharging/protection circuit based on the bq24079T. It does not work with batteries that include a protection circuit. How do you get around this?

Is the TS pin properly biased? If so, then how much current does the protect require to close its switch?

I have a functioning charger circuit based on the bq24097T. I am having trouble finding a battery and holder combo to use with it because of the protection circuits. What did you use for a battery and holder?

Yes, the TS is properly biased. I do not know what the configuration of the protection circuit.
