Back up power switching

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2115A
I wonder if I can get some support/guidance on a backup battery solution . A requirement to providing a backup supply source in the event of a sudden, unexpected power loss.  The backup rechargable battery would need to supply power  2.0A  @3.3v,  for 1 min backup hold time . The current design has a reset IC with trip voltage at 2.33V on the 3.3V bus.
Another constraint is the area for the battery is small, about 1"x1 and an estimate for the height is 0.5". ( could use a battery suggestions as well)
In summary, I need to switch between main power (which is Power over Ethernet), to a backup supply when a new circuit detects a 'REAL' power loss so that the processor gracefully shuts down.  The backup supply only needs to be active for whatever time WinCE needs to shutdown whatever critical services are running.
