In our sugested circuit, LEDA should coonect to the LED devices and then to VBAT. My question is, can we connect it to a constant 5V DC instead of VBAT?

Hi Antony,

LED pins are on the VBAT reference level which is 4.5V(max). If you connect it to 5V then you will be violating the specs. I dont recommend this.
