bq40z50 removed from battery and plugged back in

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50

Hi Tom,

Assume a bq40z50 circuit is programmed to operate standalone, and [NR] is set to 1, yet the circuit is removed from the battery and then plugged back in (which means the bq40z50 loses power for sufficiently long time), then is it still going to function just as before? Should I expect any issue?

Thank you!

Yang

  • Yang,

The device will be in Shutdown after the cells have been attached and a charging voltage will need to be applied to the Pack pin to wake up the device. The device will then take an OCV measurement and run an FCC simulation to estimate the remaining capacity and full charge capacity. The accuracy of the estimate will depend on the type of cell and where the cell voltages are with respect to the OCV table. You should charge the pack to full for the best accuracy.
