LM25010 - Supply Current (Icc) Consumed during Light/Low Load

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25010

Hello,

I am using the LM25010 and am looking for the Operating Current of Switching regulator IC with its Output ON with the following conditions:

In Sleep Mode/Standby Condition , with Very Light/Low Load ( Say Some 700uA).

I also see that the datasheets says the foloowing:

Parameter: Operating Current (Iin)

Condition: Non Switching FB=3V

Max: 920uA

What does this mean?

Thank you very much.

Russell

  • Hello Russell,

The non-switching Iin current specified for the LM25010 is the current into the VIN pin when the FB pin is higher than the 2.5V regulation reference voltage.   The internal buck MOSFET is not switching in this condition so there is no output current or gate driver current in the measurement.     The typical value for the LM25010 is 645uA.

One note of caution.  This VIN current spec does not include the current in the RON resistor which is connected from the input supply to RON/SD pin.  The voltage at RON/SD is typically less than 1V so the external RON resistor is biased with most of the VIN voltage in both operating and shutdown conditions.l
