Hi,

I am facing issue with BQ24190 Battery charger. I am setting the following register values & getting REG08 content as charger port is detected (USB host/ Adapter Port) but it is not charging. And fault register values is 0x00 only.

Even sometimes it is showing the battery is charging, but at that time the current is not entering to battery. And the charger also not getting detected.

What will be the issue? can you please help us,

Waiting for your faster reply,

  • Ganesh,

REG08 (System Status Register) shows that you are in DPM regulation. Please try lowering REG00 [3:6] from 5.0V to the default value of 4.36V (0110).

Let me know if that helps!

    Thanks,

    Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

Thanx for your fast reply. I have already tried with default register setting, but it is not getting charged. After that I have tried with setting minimum DPM value also ( by setting REG00 as 0x05) then also it is not charging.

    Regards,

    Ganesh.

  • Ganesh,

Using default register settings (except for disable watchdog), can you please confirm what value you read for registers 0x08 and 0x09?

In you previous post the values you show indicated a status of "power not good" and "unknown adapter" both of which will cause the device to be unable to charge:

Also if you can provide the following information it will help:

    • What is your battery voltage? Vbus Voltage?
      • Please measure the VBAT and VBUS voltages using the EVM Test points (or close to the device is using a custom board
    • Are you using an actual battery, or simulated?
    • Are you using an actual adapter (USB?) or power supply for VBUS?
    • Conduct this test with no System load if possible

    Thanks!

    Rachel
