bq34z100 Discharge Current Maximum

Hello

When my discharge current exceeds the register maximum of -32767 (125mV), something I did not expect happens.  The fuel gauge continues to read current, albeit a little less accurately, but the negative sign indicating discharge disappears.  I am reading this on the EVSW via EV2300.  I can only assume that the data has overflowed into the sign bit (there is no obvious hardware fault - the voltage across the sense resistor and between SRP and SRN pins is still proportional to the current in the correct direction).  Is this because fuel gauge is designed to do this, is it a fault on my particular chip, or is it the EVSW which is causing this?  I expected a decrease in accuracy, with the value saturating, but not a sign change.
