BQ24250 Battery re-charge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24250

Hello

My customer choose BQ24250 for their 2015 model product ( in the proto-type stage).

Conditions:

* Device is BQ24250 (EN1=1 EN2=0 ILIM set to 1.0A by externaly 270ohm on their proto-type),
* Use via SA mode, so  VBATREG=4.2V
* VRCH= 70mVmin/115mV typ/150mVmax in the BQ24250 datasheet page6.
* Li-ION  1cell BAT

(Q1)
If Battery were charged BAT, and if the voltage at BAT is over the 4.2V-0.15V= 4.05V,
Re-charge doen NOT occur...
If the voltage at BAT is under the 4.05V, Re-charge start...
Is this correct?

Customer says that If VIN(AC-adapter) were suppied  AFTER  the BAT (4.05V) already inserted, Re-charge  occurs,
but if VIN(AC-adapter) were already supplied , and BAT(4.05V) is inserted  then,Re-charge doe NOT occurs.
Customer also says that this phenomenon also depends on the each devices.

(Q2)
Do you have any ciriteria ( sequence about VIN and the battery insertion)  about re-charge..?

I am happy that your cooperations, hope to have your answer within 2days..

Thank you for  your cooperations.

  • Kanji-san,

    150mV is the maximum spec, so the re-charge should start if the battery voltage is below that. There should not be a sequence for applying the input power and plugging in the battery for recharge to start.

    Can you measure the voltage at the VBAT pin of the IC when the re-charge happens and not happens?

    Thanks,

    Wenjia
