bq24170 / Isys loaded before Rsns

Hi All,

Please let me ask the configuration as attached circuit. I understand that the total current of Ichg and Isys should be up to ICHARGE set by RSR when Isys is loaded after RSR. Then now I'd like to ask following question at attached circuit that Isys is loaded before RSR. Where I assume that IIN_lim=5A and ICHARGE=1A.

  • At pre-charge phase, can system load up to "IIN_lim - Ipre-charge?
  • Is Isys provided from battery when the charging is sudpended due to fault like OTP?
  • After fully-charged, is the Isys loaded from only battery because the charging is completed?

  • Hi Sonoki,

When you place the system connection before RSR the limitation is that the IC can only sense the ICHARGE current which is not the true load current of ICHARGE + ISYS. Charger control loop and some thresholds such as OCP and UCP will not monitoring the true load current.

As shown in the typical application example, when connecting system either before or after RSR,  charge termination should be disabled by pulling TTC pin to ground.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Rachel,

Let me ask again. Can I maintain charge current and load system current additionally when system is connected before RSR?

    Best Regards,

    Sonoki
