LM3488Q Sepic Startup Problems

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3488, LM3481

Hello,

I built an SEPIC converter with LM3488Q using the TI webench. The input is from 6V to 20V and the output is designed 12V @ 700mA.

The problem is the startup of the power supply. Every time i power it up, the external power supply limits the input current (current limit normally @500mA, but same problem appears at 3A current limit). The input resistance of the SEPIC is above 250kOhm, so there should be no short circuit or anything.

One strange workaround was to put the probe of the oscilloscope to gate pin of the mosfet during startup. Then the SEPIC started with no problem. This "workaround" is now strangely not working anymore.

If there are PCB-files needed, please tell me. Nothingtheless i put everything on one layer except the FB-pin line to the voltage devider, so there are no vias or similar in the power path. The SEPIC is currently on a seperate board, so there is no noise from other circuits.

Thank you for your help!

Best wishes

Thomas
