The absolute-maximum-rating value of BQ20Z45

We guarantee operational temperature: Ta= -40 to +85,

i.e.the electrical characteristic tabless are gauranteed over the operational range.

The wider functional temperature range relates more to the absolute max junction temperature beyond which you will damage the part. Operating at the functional temp should not damage the part but it shouldn’t be running at these extremities since abs max may cause reliability issues with the device.

These higher functional temps are to allow a customer to run some characterization of their system but we’re not recommending that they use these as normal operation and we are not gauranteeing our electrical specs.
