TPS61165 doubt - CRTL pin and SMD components

Hello,

I have just bought a TPS61165 and i have a two doubts. The first is if i can just conect CRTL pin to VIN since i do not need brightness control, i just want it to have the max brightness. Can i conect CRTL pin to VIN to have the max brightness? And the second is if can i use SMD components, do they have to have any special caracteristic? power?
