Hi,

When TPS62240 is in shutdown mode, would it damage the chip if the SW pin is driven by 3V?

This is likely ok. But note that there is a high side MOSFET with its body diode pointing from SW to VIN. This will conduct if VIN is not present.

I recommend looking at the newer TPS62740 and TPS62230 family as well.

The same would be true for TPS62740 and TPS62230, i.e, the diode is pointing from SW to VIN and will conduct if VIN is not present while SW is 3V?

Yes, this is true of any buck converter.
