LM1085IT-5.0/NOPB IOUT

The LM1085IT-5.0/NPOB shows dropping characterisitics on 180mA.

The VIN is 7.8V, also temperature  of this device surface is around 45degC.

The occurance is 5/16.

The typical thing is added 100uF of alunimum capacitor onto VOUT.

Could you please let me know the possibility of this failure?

    As described here, there is no reason for LM1085IT-5.0 to be in drop-out mode.

    I have no idea what this failure mode could possibly be accurately attributed to.

    Since there is only one (1) device being reported, possibly there is some ESD/EOS damage to the pass transistor .
