PTH08000WAH Module Damaged

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6457, PTH08000W

Hello,

We are using PTH08000WAH Power regulator module, we are providing 12Volts and 8Amps as input and output voltage of 3.3Volts is provided to  DSP TMS320C6457 Series, but recently that device got damaged but we are not able to debug or find out the problem.

Thanks,

pramod

  • The PTH08000W can be overstressed if the inhibit pin does not have a dedicated open drain FET for controlling on-off function. The unit most likely has a short on the Vout bus to ground.

Or the input bus(+)  had a high voltage transient  or the input ground was greater then(-) 0.3V .

  • Hey Tom,

But in Data sheet i have read that inhibit pin i.e pin no 4, and it says that as below

The power module functions normally when the Inhibit pin is left open-circuit, providing a regulated output
whenever a valid source voltage is connected to VI with respect to GND.

so we have left inhibit pin Floating.

    Thanks

  • Hello:

The PTH08000  inhibit pin does not require any connection.

The Inhibit pin can be open  or not connected to any valid source.
