TLV62150 SW pin absolute maximum rating

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV62150

Please let me know about absolute maximum rating of TLV62150 SW pin.

It is written in datasheet -0.3V to Vin+0.3V. However I think it is difficult to limit the overshot and undershoot of SW pin within this range. Is there another definition such as the number for a short period? Or do we have to limit within this range? If it is so, is it possible to limit by adding snubber circuit?

  • This app note, found on the product page, should answer your question: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva494a/slva494a.pdf

  • Chris-san,

I checked the app note. Does this app note mean that SW node over shoot and under shoot due to switching operation doesn't damage the device if there is no problem in layout?  We observed the waveform of attached file. Can you judge this waveform doesn't damage the device? If it is yes, please let me know the criteria of judgement. I would like to get the information such as ***V, ***ns.

I'm thinking as the below now,

TLV62150 Vin maximum rating is 20V, thus SW pin has the maximum rating until 20V. Over shoot and under shoot waveform isn't clamped to body diode VF level, so the current isn't flowing into body diode. From the above, this waveform doesn't damage the TLV62150.

  • Yes, there is no damage if a good layout is done and the device is operated within the recommended operating conditions.  There is no specific voltage for a certain time to refer to.

Your reasoning is correct on the attached waveforms.  I do not see an issue with them.
