Application is 3 (10.8V) or 4 (14.4V) cell 2.4Ah charger for portable instrument. Either of these two families of products look like reasonable choices. I need power path control and DPM. Unit will run off of charger supply most of the time. Unit runs off of battery until it is connected to target system under test then can run off of power provided from it.
(1) Within the families 617 vs 618 and 170 vs 171, what are the critical differences?
(2) The biggest difference between the two families seems to be internal vs external switches. Are there other critical differences.
