BQ20Z655 Charge Enable Pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z655-R1

Hi,

I'm working with BQ20Z655-R1. In the datasheet it says that  a low signal on this pin battery will enter the charge mode. But in my application the battery will not enter the charge mode. The "DSG" is still enabled(red color) in the battery status.

By the way i changed the "chg inhibit threshold" from 0 to 3000 mA. This means CE pin is enabled, am i right?

Best Regards,

  • Refering to TRM,

If seems that if you set the CHG Inhibit Threshold to 3000mA that means it is enabled ( e.g. 0 = disabled), but reading that section of the manual it does appear that the charge current has to be greater than 3000mA in order for the CE pin to then disable charging ( charge FET off) when it is pulled high, below that threshold it seems to have no effect. So it seems like it is really a charge disable pin for charge currents above the threshold?

Which way are you pulling the CE pin?

What is your charge current ?

Are you definetely in charge/relax mode?

What happens is you disable the CE pin by setting the inhibit thrteshold to 0, does the part charge normally?

Per the last line of the main paragraph above it does appear you have to change the CE pin to a logical low in order to turn the charge FET back on once it has tripped in, so have you tried toggling the /CE pin low, or going into discharge mode  to get it to start charging again.

  • Hi Mike,

I solved the problem. Charge enable pin works perfectly.

    Best regards.

  • Hi John,

what was the problem in the end ?
