bq24266 with no USB

Hello!

I have a simple question: what happens to bq24266 when the USB host is removed? Is it able to use the battery as the primary power source or what? And, above all, does it allow power to go from battery to the loads?

Hello Stefano,

When no input connected and a valid battery conneted, the bq2426x enters battery supplement mode. During supplement mode, the battery FET is turned on and VBAT = VSYS. The battery supplements the system load.

Please refer to the bq24266 datasheet page 15 section 9.4.2. This section explains the operation when battery only connected.

The bq2426x also contains a OSFET driver to drive an external discharge FET between the battery and the system output if a low impedance path for supplying the system from the battery is desired.
