BQ24251 / Can disable charging for deeply discharged battery?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24251

Hi All,

Our customer has evaluated bq24251 but now they want to disable charging for deeply discharged battery such as fully discharged 0V battery. Does bq24251 have such function? I believe that it will start charging for deeply discharged battery from any input source, like SDP or non-standard adapter.

Your comment will be appreciated.

  • There is a battery UVLO threshold at 2.5V. Once the battery voltage is below this threshold, it will stop discharging.
For SDP and CDP, if the battery voltage is below 3.4V when the input source is applied, the input current will be limited to 100mA for 45mins until VBAT is above 3.4V to start applying the normal input current limit. Please refer to Figure 18 on the datasheet for details.

    Thanks,
