There is not password to open the file. However the equations in the file are protected by a password to help prevent user errors.

Unfortunatly, I have Excel 2003 and the converter failed to open the Excel sheet. That's why I thought it was password protected. Do you have a file compatible with Excel 2003 ?

The document was created using Excel 2003 and is saved in the Excel 97-2003 format already. I was also able to open it in Excel 2002.
Here is a link to a Microsoft plugin that should allow you to open newer versions of Excel files in 2003. Hopefully that will help.
