Hi,

I would like to know what is the best IC to charge and monitor one li-ion cell. At the same time i want to have an output of 3.3V. There are one IC with all of that or i need to use multiple ICs.

What is the charge current you are going to charge your battery? Also, what do you mean by monitoring the cell? Do you mean gauging or just monitor the charging?

I didn't define the charge current yet, because i didn't select the cell. But i think that the charge current wont exceed the 1.5A.

By monitoring the cell, i want to be capable to know the state of the cell, or at least, know when the cell is discharged. So i think it is a gaug solution.

I suggest bq25010 or bq25015, which are linear chargers with integrated buck converters. You will need a separate gauge (maybe bq274xx family) to monitor state of health.

Hi.
Is there a reason to use a separate gauge or can i use a single IC to do the charge and monitor and another IC to the conversion for 3.3V.

The gauge monitors battery's state of charge/discharge by measuring the battery voltage, current, and temperature. If your application needs indication of what state of charge/discharge the battery is at, you will need a gauge for it.

I know what a gauge do. My doubt is, there isnt a IC with the charge and the gauge in the same chip? Or its better to use a separate circuit?

We do not currently have a IC integrates charger and gauge together. We do have combo solutions such as the bq24250 and bq27532. The bq24532 is configured such that it can act as the master of the bq24250. However, back to your question, yes, you will need 2 ICs to acheive what you need.
