TPS63020 stability for transient loads.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63020, TPS61280

Hi,

I am planning to use TPS63020 IC for one my application.

Vin min - 2.5 V, Vin max - 3.8V

Load - 3.8V, 0A(0.5mSec), 2A(0,5mSec), transient load. (Load Di/dt 40mA/uSec)

Maximum expected ripple at the o/p is < 100mV.

What is value of the capacitor I can use at the output to support load transients.

I am using 1uH inductor for the applicaation.

Is there feed forward capacitor is provided internal IC? If so what is the value of it?

Thanks in advance.

  • Typically, the device can support 2A Iout at a VIN of 2.5V up to 3.3V max. So the capacitor will have to buffer a lot at the output. Due to the duty-cycle of 50%, the recharge portion is quite short.
Is the load profile above always present?
If you are open in terms of package, TPS61280 Bosst+Bypass Converter could be an option. It is available in BGA-package.
