pwm controller UCC28251 and LM5045

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5045, UCC28251

We explored the ICs UCC28251, LM5045  found out the following about those:

  1. UCC28251
  • supports full-bridge topology
  • does it internally implement phase-shifted full-bridge?
  • soft-switching?
  • could not understand how to externally adjust set-point??

        2. LM5045:

  • supports half-bridge and full-bridge topology
  • does not support phase-shift full-bridge?
  • externally adjustable set-point??

We have some specific requirements, that we are looking for in the PWM Controller:

  • A.C. Supply range: 170V to 300V.
  • Output characteristics: maximum of 65V d.c. and 12A d.c..
  • Topology supported: Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge or Asymmetric Half-Bridge or both (preferred)-> Soft-switching topologies.
  • A query regarding the product that you'll suggest: Does the PWM Controller itself introduce Phase-shift (in Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge) or Asymmetry (in Asymmetric Half-Bridge), or does the micro-controller have to suggest these (while all that the PWM controller does on its own is generate PWM pulses)?
  • Error Loop for PWM generation: Since we're controlling the lead-acid battery charging profile using a micro-controller, we'd want the PWM Controller to be provided its Reference voltage (set-point) by the micro-controller (generated from PWM pin of micro-controller, converted to equivalent D.C. level using an RC-network and fed to the Error amplifier input of PWM controller).
  • PWM pulse level: 5V (preferred), 12V
  • LLC: May or may not be internally present in the PWM Controller. You may suggest us both types of ICs, if available.
  • Primary/ Secondary side usage: We'd prefer the latter
  • please suggest the appropriate PWM controller to meet our requirements
