TLV702xx built-in body diode current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV702

Hi

The PMOS pass element in the TLV702xx has a built-in body diode. This Diode is good in our application, then we need pass the current from output to input, when input voltage drops below output voltage. What is the maximal current? Or should we even prevent TLV702xx from possible reverse currents? Because additional diodes increases the cost of our low-cost product, we'd like to use this build-in body diode. In the datasheet, nowhere is a current limit noted.

Regards,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

The current conducted through the body diode is not limited. If extended reverse voltage operation is anticipated, external limiting to 5% of the rated output current is recommended. The TLV702 family is rated to 300-mA; therefore, it is recommended to externally limit this current to 15mA.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
