Smart charger with BQ24450

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24450

Hello,

I am a newbie designing a smart battery charger with BQ24550 here are the details mentioned.

I have 4 Lead Acid batteries (Panasonic LC-R064R5P) 6V 4.5Ah connected in series to form a battery bank of 24 volts 450 mA.

Battery Specifications:

Charge method: Constant Voltage

Cycle Use: Initial Current = 1.80 A or smaller; Control Voltage= 7.25 to 7.45Volts per 6V cell

Trickle Use: initial current = 0.675A or smaller; Control Voltage = 6.8V to 6.9V per 6V cell

I need to charge this battery bank of 24V 4.5Ah using TI BQ24450 charge controller.

I have few questions:

a)      Is it recommended to charge a bank of 4 SLA batteries connected in series with 30 - 32 Volts charging voltage with BQ24450.

b)      Please verify the following passive components for BQ24450 circuit

Passive component values:

Rc          46.00KΩ

Ra + Rb  502.33KΩ

Rd          600.36KΩ

Rb          16.41KΩ

Ra          483.50KΩ

Ipre        40.06mA

Risns     0.37Ω

Rp         8888.89Ω

Pd         0.0290967W

c)       How to connect various output of BQ24450 to a processor to make a smart charger?

Waiting for suggestions, Thanks.
