Help needed regarding TPS2031 Power distribution switches

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2031

Hi, i am a final year student from NUS working on my FYP on nanocube satellite. Just recently, i have bought the High-Side MOSFET Switch TPS2031 to implement over current protection for it. I have connected the chip according to the typical application given on the datasheet, and ran a few short circuit test, however the results obtained is not the same as shown in the datasheet. can anyone help me with this?

Shorted-circuit current  threshold : 0.4- 0.5 A,  (not 0.6 )

output current keeps fluctuating.

  • Make sure that the input voltage to the TPS2031 is stable during the output overload test (and remains above 2.7V). The enable pin should also be stable and well above the threshold. Can you provide scope waveforms of the event?
  • Hi Eric, first of all thank you so much for your quick response! however i do not understand what you mean by ensuring that my input voltage is stable. Whenever i shorted my load to ground, the input voltage drops to close to 0 voltage. its that mainly why my switch is not working there after? I am trying to simulate a fault event, when excessive current drawn, the switch should remain at constant current, so allowing user(me) to reset the switch..
