bq24266 / Drive IUSBx pins from only DRV output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24266

Hi All,

Now our customer has evaluated bq24266 with no host controller, so they plan to drive IUSBx pins from only DRV output. Then can we remove ORing diode from BAT though EVM has it? I believe it can be removed because it will be the same situation with charging deep discharged battery with ORing from DRV and BAT.

Your comment will be appreciated.

  • Yes. The IUSBx pins can be driven only by DRV. With no input supply and battery only, the IC will default to HiZ mode regardless of the IUSBx status (except for boost mode). The reason for the ORing diode with BAT was to the EVM to easily be configured into to boost mode using IUSBx pins.
  • Hi Jeff-san,

Thank you for your response. I clearly understand that the bias for IUSBx pin with no input supply is needed at only boost mode.

    Best Regards,
