Replace with TI device(gas gauge)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27621-G1

Hi Team,

My customer currently uses MAX17048 for mobile phone and I'd like to replace with TI device for next model.
http://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX17048-MAX17049.pdf

The lower cost is required and I found bq27621-G1.
Is there any other TI device that is recommended to replace?

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hi Yaita-san,

MAX17048 does not use a sense resistor and does not coulomb count, therefore bq27621 is our most similar device.

However, the customer can also get the benefit of adding coulomb counting and the full Impedance Track algorithm if they can use bq27421.  It is the same solution size as bq27621 and has an integrated sense resistor.  Because the sense resistor uses two tiny solder bumps there is a maximum current limitation for bq27421, however.  If their current requirements are low enough then bq27421 is also a good option and has more features than bq27621.

If they want to use a gauge with a sense resistor but their currents are too high for bq27421, the next cheapest solution is bq27441.

  • Hi dMax-san,

    I appreciate for your support.
I will check your devices and make a suggestion.
