BQ27510DRZR-G2 vs. BQ27510DRZR-G3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27510-G3, BQ27510-G2

Hi, We are using the BQ27510DRZR-G2 in a current design and it appears it is going EOL. The replacement is BQ27510DRZR-G3 and I have been told the only differences are additional pin 12 functionality and the internal oscillator frequency. What is the default configuration for pin 12? I am wondering if I can drop in the -G3 part in place of the -G2 part and it will function properly without any changes to the hardware or software interface. Does the oscillator frequency affect anything from a hardware or software interface standpoint?

  • You can find full details about the differences introduced by bq27510-G3 in the change list from the product folder:

The hardware is the same, but there are a number of feature changes as well as slightly different register mapping.  You should have to change your design, but you will probably need to modify your software slightly.  Most notably, the address to read StateOfCharge( ) has changed!

You can also upgrade bq27510-G2 ICs to bq27510-G3, even in-system.
