We have a problem with the BQ24072 charging IC TI part. What we are seeing is that in some of the devices, we see the capacitor attached to the BAT pin getting damaged. We are not sure what is causing this damage. Please see circuit below with capacitor circled in red. We are using a 10uF/6.3V, MLCC part (0603 size). The input is a USB power adapter supplying 5V. We are not sure if the capacitor is getting damaged due to over voltage or ESD or what? From the data sheet it says that the BAT pin max voltage is under 4.23V all the times. But we are using a capacitor rated at 6.3V. So what could cause this damage?
